Compute-resource Allocation for Motion Estimation in Real-time Video Compression
نویسندگان
چکیده
We present a novel method for allocating computational resources in motion estimation for real time video compression, in order to attempt to minimize prediction error over the whole image. The method makes decisions about how much compute power is allocated to motion estimation for each particular block based upon past observations of the input and output data of each task. We present preliminary results that demonstrate the ability of our method to improve the resulting quality of encoded video under a realtime computational constraint.

New adaptive interpolation schemes for efficient meshbased motion estimation
Motion estimation and compensation is an essential part of existing video coding systems. The mesh-based motion estimation (MME) produces smoother motion field, better subjective quality (free from blocking artifacts), and higher peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) in many cases, especially at low bitrate video communications, compared to the conventional block matching algorithm (BMA). Howev...

New generation of wireless networks, LTE and WiMAX, supports many services which consume a lot of resources (such as VOIP, Video Conference, Digital Video, Multimedia streams and online Multi-player Games). Supporting multi-media services in wireless communication systems provide new resource allocation challenges. Because of high loads in downlink, efficient resource allocation is vital in dow...
متن کاملReal-time Video Coding under Power Constraint Based on H.264 Codec
In this paper, we propose a joint power-distortion optimization scheme for real-time H.264 video encoding under the power constraint. Firstly, the power constraint is translated to the complexity constraint based on DVS technology. Secondly, a computation allocation model (CAM) with virtual buffers is proposed to facilitate the optimal allocation of constrained computational resource for each f...

Wireless multimedia sensor networks (WMSNs) have been potentially applicable for several emerging applications. The resources, i.e., power and bandwidth available to visual sensors in a WMSN are, however, very limited. Hence, it is important but challenging to achieve efficient resource allocation and optimal video data compression while maximizing the overall network lifetime. In this paper, a...
متن کاملNetwork-driven motion estimation for wireless video terminals
Motion estimation has been shown to help significantly in the compression of video sequences. However, since most motion estimation algorithms require a large amount of computation, it is undesirable to use them in power constrained applications, such as battery-operated wireless video encoders. This paper describes a new compression algorithm, termed networkdriven motion estimation (NDME), whi...
